International Nurses Day at Garden Village is on Monday 13 May. We will mark the occasion at with a special morning tea for nurses past and present.
Garden Village invites employees, residents who dedicated their careers to nursing and our current nursing team as well as the Garden Village Auxiliary Committee who have generously donated scholarships.
Auxiliary President Cheryl Pearson said “We are delighted to fund two Garden Village Scholarships to support the next generation of nurses. The Auxiliary is offering two scholarships for the Diploma of Nursing at TAFE NSW. This is a great opportunity to upskill as an Enrolled Nurse and secure $5,000 to support nursing studies.”
A morning tea hosted by Garden Village will be held at the Community Centre to thank the Auxiliary Committee and announce the scholarship recipients.
We’ll be announcing the 2024 Scholarship recipients, including:
- Garden Village Auxiliary Scholarship
- for Enrolled Nurses at TAFE NSW
- Garden Village Scholarship
- for Registered Nurses at Charles Sturt University
Garden Village will announce the Enrolled Nurse Scholarships generously funded by the Garden Village Auxiliary and the recipients of the Registered Nurses Scholarships for Charles Sturt University students which are funded by Garden Village.
CEO Craig Wearne said: “Supporting the education of our employees is an investment in the quality of care that our residents receive. By providing these scholarships, the Auxiliary and Garden Village are generously supporting future nurses which is a wonderful contribution to make.”
The Scholarships support the theme of Our Nurses. Our Future. The theme is chosen by International Council of Nurses – a federation of more than 130 national nursing associations around the world, representing the over 28 million nurses working worldwide.
“TAFE NSW is committed to working in partnership with businesses to deliver industry-led and customer focused outcomes for our community, and relationships with local organisations like Garden Village are critical to ensure we’re providing our learners with the best opportunities for work placement and employment.
TAFE NSW is proud to be involved in the Garden Village Enrolled Nurses Scholarship program by delivering the education and training for scholarship recipients. We appreciate the opportunity to showcase the Diploma of Nursing education pathway with staff, residents, and guests.” TAFE NSW Team Leader Allied Health and Nursing, Gabrielle Rodda
International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world on the birthdate of Florence Nightingale. ICN President, Dr Pamela Cipriano explained the reasoning behind the chosen theme: “Despite being the backbone of health care, nursing often faces financial constraints and societal undervaluation. Continuing our overarching theme Our Nurses. Our Future. and the policy actions of the ICN Charter for Change, ICN has chosen to focus IND 2024 on the economic power of care with the aim to reshape perceptions and demonstrate how strategic investment in nursing can bring considerable economic and societal benefits.”
