Interview Sarah Ogilvie Retirement Living Manager

The Banksia is nearly complete tell us more about the project

The Banksia apartments are beautifully designed and feature contemporary fixtures, fittings and finishes. BESIX Watpac built the award winning Cascade apartments for Garden Village in 2018 and has delivered another exceptional development. We expect the project to be completed in July and look forward to welcoming new people to the Garden Village community.

When people can view and inspect the apartments

We have been overwhelmed with enquiries and have sold over fifty percent of apartments. We are finalising the display apartment for depositors to inspect.  We invite people to meet with us to have a tour of the community and complete an expression of interest for the apartment of their choice.

What’s it like to live in the Garden Village community?

Garden Village Retirement Living is for people looking to down size, enjoy their independence with additional support easily available.

We have a vibrant community for those who like to socialise with two cafes, a restaurant, two gyms to work off those delicious cakes, a beautiful heated hydrotherapy pool (one of two in the Hastings!), book clubs, craft groups, indoor bowls, library, men’s shed and more.

Another real benefit is our wellbeing and health guidance. A wellbeing centre opening in 2022 provides allied health services, massage, yoga and other therapies. Residents have access to nursing, respite and disability supports, home care, onsite aged care and a chapel.

What if people need to sell their current home before moving into The Banksia?

We appreciate that most people have a home to sell before they can move to Garden Village. Once a deposit is paid, we hold the apartment for a period of three months giving people time to sell their home. We will work with everyone’s individual circumstances to make the move-in process as smooth as possible.

Retirement Living Fees can be confusing how do you explain them?

Absolutely, we like to keep it simple. We spend the time with people to go through the fees or costs to help eliminate this confusion. We’ve created a simple video to explain what’s involved with different scenarios which can be viewed on the Garden Village website. We are happy to discuss the three options to buy into The Banksia over a coffee and chat.

Do you have interest from people outside of Port Macquaire?

As one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations, Port Macquarie is a wonderful place to enjoy retirement and for family and friends to visit. We have received enquiries from outside of the region, however we find locals are keen to buy-in to our community because they know where we are and appreciate our long standing good reputation. We have actually been providing services in the Hastings community for over 40 years. In fact, everyone who has deposited on the Banksia apartments to date are locals!

If you are looking for the next step to simplify, downsize and enjoy the beautiful Port Macquarie lifestyle, it’s a great move. Our community is warm hearted and full of goodwill and our team goes above and beyond to make people feel at home, in a safe and caring environment.
