- Global company SMART Technologies visited Port Macquarie on 31 October 2023
- The team presented a demo of SMART Boards for Garden Village residents and employees
- Jeff Lowe, CCO of SMART Technologies talked about the technology, and the impact it can have on older Australians
Garden Village is proud to announce its collaboration with global company SMART Technologies and local reseller Colourworks to launch the SMART Interactive Displays for seniors. The SMART Interactive Display introduces state-of-the-art touchscreen technology designed to boost digital literacy and help alleviate social isolation.
This initiative bridges the digital divide to enhance the lives of older Australians particularly those living in Residential Aged Care, by helping them stay mentally active.
“We are committed to supporting engaged, inclusive environments for people of all ages. Our interactive displays provide a unique way for seniors to enhance both their digital literacy and their overall wellbeing, including those living with dementia. We’re pleased to support this important initiative with our purpose-built technology, and look forward to continuing to work closely with the Garden Village team,” said Rebecca Woolnough SMART Technologies.
CEO Craig Wearne expressed excitement about the possibilities of using SMART Boards: “The world of smart tech is exciting, and we look forward to embracing innovative solutions to best support resident engagement, health, and wellbeing.”
“The new SMART Board will enable aged care residents to embrace digital technology in group settings. The technology will provide opportunities to learn, have fun, play games and connect.
A suite of programs will be available for residents to experience the benefits of interactive art, online puzzles, games, and videos. It’s a positive way to support cognitive capabilities such as memory, attention and perception, especially for residents living with dementia. The SMART Board supports our journey towards digital transformation and we are grateful to local business Colourworks for their generous support,” added Mr Wearne.
Digital Transformation to enhance service delivery
The initiative supports Garden Village’s Strategic Plan for 2023 – 2025, which outlines a commitment to digital transformation to enhance care outcomes and service delivery. With social isolation due to COVID, the rise of telehealth and online portals like MyAgedCare, it’s essential we support older people to boost their digital literacy skills.
Many residents grew up in a non-digital era and people aged 65 and above continue to be Australia’s least digitally-included group. Garden Village is committed to narrowing the digital divide and enriching the lives of seniors.
Colourworks Australia, Canon’s largest regional partner, is also a proud collaborator with SMART Technologies. Their partnership with Garden Village exemplifies their commitment to ensuring technology is both accessible and inclusive for seniors.
