Garden Village and Wesley Vocational Institute are working together to give new trainees the skills required for a successful career in Aged Care.
“We offer personal growth and development opportunities and on the job training to support trainees of all ages. In 2022 we’ve onboarded 20 Aged Care Trainees. Garden Village has been providing care and support to people in our community for over 40 years and we are proud to offer Aged Care Traineeships for Residential Aged Care,” said Garden Village Clinical Education Emily Costales.
Known as Support Workers, Personal Care Assistants or Assistants in Nursing, people in these roles carry out a range of daily activities to maintain the personal care and independence of older Australians and people with disabilities to help them live their best lives.
Garden Village is providing an opportunity for trainees to earn while they learn, receive formal training and a nationally recognised qualification through our training partner Wesley Vocational Institute. Trainees receive job coaching and mentoring and guaranteed employment at the end of their training.
The trainees learn on the job and have clinical sessions with ‘Geri’ the medical teaching manikin. The manikin is a patient simulator that mimics human anatomy to safely teach clinical skills in a professional setting. It was purchased thanks to Garden Village Auxiliary fundraising.
“Wesley Vocational Institute (RTO Code 90091) has enjoyed a positive and collaborative relationship with Garden Village for many years. We specialise locally in CHC33015 Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing) and (Disability) training. We work closely alongside organisations like Garden Village to produce safe, high quality and empowering learning experiences and are pleased to be involved with the 20 Trainees this year,” said Donna Beveridge Trainer & Assessor with Wesley Vocational Institute.
The Aged Care Traineeships will continue into 2023. To register your interest in future opportunities contact us.
