Village 'Makers' Volunteers
At Garden Village, volunteers are at the heart of what we do, bringing joy, connection, and support to our residents. Your time, skills, and passion can make a real difference in the lives of seniors. Whether you have a talent for entertaining, a flair for organising, or simply a desire to give back, there’s a role for you in our vibrant community.

Volunteers at Garden Village
“Village Makers” is a volunteer program designed to create a vibrant, connected, and supportive community within Garden Village Aged Care and Retirement Living. This program brings together passionate volunteers who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents, helping them stay active, engaged, and fulfilled. Village Makers offers a variety of activities that cater to residents’ interests, encourages social interaction, and support their mental and emotional wellbeing.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Age Requirement: Open to individuals 16 years and older (or with parental consent).
- Background Check: Volunteers must undergo a background check to ensure the safety of residents.
- Training: Orientation, communication techniques, and emergency procedures.
- Commitment: Flexible hours; volunteers are encouraged to commit to 4 hours a week for consistency.
Volunteer Roles
- Activity Volunteers: Help plan and facilitate fun activities like arts and crafts, gardening, music sessions, and movie nights that align with residents’ interests.
- Technology Guides: Teach residents to use digital tools for connecting with family, accessing entertainment on the SMARTBoards or Virtual Reality.
- Entertainers: share your talent with Garden Village monthly or weekly sessions available
- Op Shop Volunteers: work in the retail Op Shop a few hours a week
- Bus Drivers and Guides: Enjoy outings? Volunteers to drive the Garden Village Bus
