Garden Village Retirement Living residents recently welcomed Sophie from Flynn’s Beach Pharmacy for an informative session on stroke awareness and medication management.
The session provided residents with practical information to help them better understand their health, manage medications safely and maintain their independence.
Sophie also shared an important reminder about recognising the signs of stroke using the FAST message:
F – Face: Has their face drooped?
A – Arms: Can they lift both arms?
S – Speech: Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
T – Time: If you notice any of these signs, call 000 immediately.
Recognising the signs and seeking medical help quickly can make an important difference when someone is experiencing a stroke.
The discussion also explored medication management and some of the practical options available to help people take the right medications at the right time.
For Flynn’s Beach Pharmacy, sessions like these are also an opportunity to strengthen connections with the local community.
“We love getting out into our local community and connecting with the wonderful residents and staff who make it so special,” Sophie said.
“Community is about more than providing a service — it’s about building relationships, sharing knowledge and being there for residents, families and staff when they need us.”
Flynn’s Beach Pharmacy provides onsite accredited pharmacists and offers a range of community information sessions for residents and employees on health and medication-related topics.
At Garden Village, we value opportunities to bring trusted local health professionals into the village and give residents easy access to practical information, conversations and support.
A big thank you to Sophie and the Flynn’s Beach Pharmacy team for sharing their knowledge and spending time with our residents.
