Cupcakes, clippers and community!
Congratulations to Alison and Katie for bravely shaving your locks to support people impacted by cancer and raising over $10,000.
Two Garden Village employees, Personal Care Assistants Alison and Katie, are bravely shaving their lovely locks to raise vital funds for the Cancer Council and the whole Garden Village community is invited to cheer them on.
The Do It For Cancer Head Shave & Morning Tea will take place on Wednesday 1 July at 10am, bringing aged care residents, retirement living residents and employees together to support the cause. Together, Alison and Katie have already raised an incredible $8,500 and counting.
It takes a village to make a difference and residents, families and staff are all supporting Alison and Katie’s fundraising efforts. Thanks to hairdressers Jo Forrester from Mirror Mirror Deja-vu Studio and Sharon at Garden Village for sharing their expertise with the clippers at 11.00am. Katie is donating her hair to Sustainable Salons to be made into medical wigs for people experiencing hair loss.
“Reaching $6,000 is an amazing fundraising effort. Cancer affects so many families and Garden Village is pleased to support employee fundraising. We look forward to a fun event for the whole community at Garden Village. Your fundraising also helps fund cancer counselling, peer support, support groups, free information booklets and resources, transport to treatment, accommodation, and financial and legal help, so no one faces cancer alone.
