Seven CHS Trainees Graduate into Full-Time Care Roles at Garden Village
Congratulations to seven CHS Training trainees on their outstanding achievement in completing the Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability and Aged Care. This milestone marks the successful completion of months of dedication and hands-on learning.
The trainees completed their course at the end of February and will now move into full-time Personal Care Assistant roles at Garden Village, as part of a two-year employment contract. Their transition from trainees to qualified care professionals highlights the strength of the partnership between CHS Training and Garden Village.
At CHS Training, learning is designed to be connected, practical, and meaningful. Delivering training onsite at Garden Village has allowed trainees to build strong relationships with staff and residents while gaining real-world experience within the heart of the community.
Trainer Mel Cockshutt said being embedded at Garden Village has been a highlight of the program.
“By being onsite at Garden Village, we get to know the staff, the residents, and the heart of the Garden Village community. I have loved meeting the residents and seeing how they have embraced the opportunity to be part of the trainees’ learning experience. Every lesson has a real impact where it matters most — right here in your community,” Mel said.
The trainees have particularly enjoyed the hands-on learning opportunities, taking part in resident games and activities including bingo, quoits, quizzes, and more, helping to build strong connections while developing essential care skills.
Trainee Kristy Duggan shared her appreciation for the experience.
“We are absolutely loving our experience so far. A big thank you to Garden Village for having us, and a big thank you to Mel for teaching us,” Kristy said.
Together, CHS Training and Garden Village are committed to growing the aged care workforce and ensuring the highest standard of care for residents. CHS Training congratulates all seven graduates on their achievement and wishes them every success as they begin their careers supporting residents at Garden Village. The next traineeship will start recruiting mid year.
