Eden’s culinary training receives a boost thanks to a Garden Village Auxiliary Scholarship.
Eden Jeffery catering career commenced at Garden Village two years ago and showing a passion for becoming a chef Eden has started a Chefs Apprenticeship at TAFE Port Macquarie.
To support her career pathway the Garden Village Auxiliary has generously awarded Eden the Lillian Watson Catering Apprentice Scholarship. This $5,000 scholarship will assist Eden with her studies, helping her achieve her goal of becoming a fully qualified chef to support older Australians.
Lillian Watson was a life member of the Garden Village Auxiliary and passionate about cooking. Lillian lived independently at Garden Village and later at Wintergarden. The scholarship in her memory will create opportunities for chefs to continue to support residents with nutritious meals as they age.
Garden Village CEO Craig Wearne and the Auxiliary Committee Nigel Morrison, Cheryl Pearson and Kate Chew presented Eden with a scholarship towards her chef education this week at the Employee Awards.
“Lillian Watson was a passionate cook and a lover of fine food and recipe books. She was not someone who sort praise and recognition, she just got on and did what needed to be done without fuss or fanfare. In saying this, I know Lillian would be absolutely chuffed to see her name attached to this scholarship. Congratulations Eden and good luck with your apprenticeship, The Auxiliary members will look forward to hearing of your progress over the next 3 years” said Cheryl Pearson President Auxiliary
Head Chef Ashley Dantl and Manager Chris Smith welcome Eden to the team. Eden has been a dedicated team member at Garden Village for the past two years, and is happy to commence the next step in her culinary career.

Eden will be balancing her apprenticeship with hands-on experience in the Garden Village kitchen, where she will work alongside the catering and production team to prepare dietician approved meals for the residents.
