Garden Village is proud to be bringing generations together as part of our partnership with Intergen Connect. This week Garden Village intergenerational programs will be showcased at a National Intergenerational Conference
Intergen Connect Founder Casey Baldwin will present the Virtual Voyagers VR (VVVR) story at the upcoming Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice (AIIP) Conference Thursday 19 February 2026 – Empowering Generations Strengthening Communities.
“This year’s event brings together leading voices in intergenerational learning, community connection, and social innovation — and we’re excited to be both presenters and sponsors, and showcase the partnership with Garden Village seniors.” said Casey.
In 2025 the Virtual Voyagers VR program received national recognition as a finalist and winner at the prestigious Future of Ageing Awards 2025, hosted annually by Inside Ageing, the awards celebrate innovation and excellence across Australia’s care sector.
“It is fantastic that the program is now set to be showcased on the national stage this week as part of the Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice Conference. Virtual Voyagers VR brings together Garden Village residents and students from Heritage Christian School, using virtual reality experiences and shared activities to build friendships, strengthen wellbeing and create meaningful community connection,” said Jo McNamara Communications Manager Garden Village.
The 2026 program launched at the historic Roto House in February, where seniors and students met over afternoon tea and took part in lively “speedy conversations”, swapping stories, laughter and life experiences across the table. The program will continue over the next eight weeks, with weekly activities designed to encourage teamwork, connection and friendships across generations.

By creating regular, meaningful interaction between young people and older residents, the program supports a more inclusive and connected community.
