Garden Village achieves top score for compliance in Aged Care Star Ratings
The new star ratings system for aged care launched online in December 2022 giving residents and families information about quality, compliance, residents’ experiences and staffing levels in residential aged care services across the country.
The ratings are available to the public on the My Aged Care website through the “find a provider tool”, allowing anyone researching aged care online to compare and monitor facilities.
Garden Village CEO Craig Wearne said “We’re pleased the new Star Ratings system offers transparency and accountability. Families and residents can use the online information as one tool in their toolbox when researching aged care homes. The Garden Village team works hard to provide great care and service to our residents and families and this is reflected in us scoring in the top 31% of aged care services across Australia. We recommend booking a tour to visit Garden Village and talk to staff and residents to find out what makes our community a good fit for you or a loved one.”
“We’re well known as a good-hearted community where everyone feels at home. Garden Village values everyone’s individual life experiences and this guides us in our care,” added Mr Wearne.
Garden Village achieved a five star rating for Compliance which shows the service has had no compliance issues for the last 3 years. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission monitors compliance. They check that aged care service providers and aged care homes are providing safe, effective, and high quality care to older Australians.
“Garden Village received three stars for Staffing which is common across the sector brought about by staffing challenges due to the pandemic. Importantly, Garden Village staffing is greater than the targets which means our staff are able to spend more time with each resident ” said Craig Wearne CEO.
“A successful aged care trainee program commenced in 2022 to support staffing into the future with 20 new aged care trainees, learning on the job in partnership with Wesley Vocational Institute. This successful program will continue in 2023,” added Mr Wearne.
Garden Village received four stars for Quality Measures demonstrating the provision of good clinical care and four stars for Residents’ Experience.
“Star Ratings provide Australians greater and more accessible choices regarding residential aged care,” said Minister for Aged Care Anika Wells.
