Aged Care Employee Day, held annually on 7 August, celebrates the thousands of dedicated workers supporting millions of older Australians living in aged care and retirement living communities.
At Garden Village, that means our nurses, personal care workers, allied health professionals, volunteers, cleaners, chefs, maintenance staff, gardeners, administrators and leaders across Wintergarden, Westerweller and Garden Lodge and the Retirement Living Village.
Every role contributes to the wellbeing of the residents and families we support. This is our chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible work happening every day, right here in our own community.

Why it matters
Aged Care Employee Day celebrates the people who work tirelessly to ensure the dignity, comfort and wellbeing of older people. . The care and support provided at Garden Village builds on our listen first culture, and showing up for each other as one team, across every part of our village. Thanks to all the nominees for making a difference in the lives of seniors every single day.
How we’re celebrating
We’re marking the day with a few ways to say thank you to our team:
- 9:00am – 11:00am – Bacon and egg breakfast rolls near the Community Centre
- 11:00am – 12:00noon – Excellence Awards, Community Centre
- Evening shift – A hot meal from the servery (Resident Meal Time only)
Across Australia, there are around 456,000 aged care workers supporting approximately 1.3 million people receiving aged care services.
At Garden Village, our team of 270 employees supports 400 seniors to age well across a continuum of care from Support at Home to Retirement Living and Residential Aged Care.
We know how essential our people are in helping older Australians age well. This day is our opportunity to recognise the skill, compassion and dedication of everyone who makes that possible.
