Volunteers
Attitude to residents is the most
significant factor that determines the quality of care.
Volunteers
can offer unique assistance in an aged care environment, strengthening the
supply of many needed services to the frail aged. Volunteers
contribute new values through their enthusiasm and the assuming of
certain responsibilities.
Volunteers
are always welcome at Garden Village and every courtesy is extended to
them.
Garden
Village has a structured volunteer program.
All
volunteers are orientated and given support and education to attend
specific activities.
Activities
may include:
 |
Assisting to feed frail residents. |
 |
Accompanying recreational activities
officers and residents on outings. |
 |
Assisting with activities programs
e.g. housie, quiz games. |
 |
Cooking and Craft
demonstrations (all ingredients supplied). |
 |
Shopping for residents and gardening
to name a few. |
Garden
Village Auxiliary is also a volunteer group. The Auxiliary meets on
the first Wednesday of each month at 9.30am and works towards raising
money for the benefit of the residents of Garden Village and the
community. New members are always welcome.
People from
our Village, the Village Auxiliary and other volunteers visit the
facility regularly. Members of community groups are always welcome. |
